Artificial intelligence is moving from a future-facing idea to a practical tool for home care operations.
Scheduling teams are using AI to evaluate coverage options. Caregivers can use it to spend less time sorting, writing, and editing care notes. Supervisors can use it to bring forth notes and patterns that deserve attention.
Finance and compliance teams can use it to identify anomalies before they become larger problems. And agencies are beginning to explore how AI can help with intake, communication, recruiting and caregiver-client matching.
But the most important question is not simply what AI can do. It is where AI creates the most value in a business built around people.
To explore that question, we spoke with nine home care leaders and professionals across operations, strategy, finance, client experience, workforce management, and care coordination. Their perspectives point to a consistent theme: AI has the greatest practical value when it reduces repetitive work, makes complex information easier to interpret and helps teams see opportunities or risks earlier while people remain responsible for context, relationships, judgment and consequential decisions.
Several themes stood out.
