Amanda Ashley Corrigan Sheds Light on Why Home Care Growth Is Directly Proportional to Real Relationships

Growth in home care is not just about expanding into more markets or adding more locations. The real challenge is building a foundation strong enough to support that growth while maintaining the quality, relationships & personal touch that families expect. Leaders who focus on scaling successfully always create the right balance between operational discipline and the human side of care.

In perspective, this also means giving franchise owners the support, systems, and resources they need to run successful businesses while ensuring families receive the same level of care no matter where they are served.

Besides this, the main idea behind a successful scaled operation is using data to strengthen decision-making. Simultaneously, adopting AI without losing the human connection and investing in the fundamentals for long-term success in home care.

To shed light on this, we interviewed a home care industry expert to share her views on scaling a large franchisee network while preserving strong connections and maintaining quality.

Amanda Ashley Sheds Light on Relationship-Driven Home Care Growth

Who Did We Interview?

Amanda Ashley Corrigan, Chief Operating Officer, Home Helpers Home Care, has a proven track record of transforming underperforming care businesses into high-performing operations. Some have seen as much as 56% growth in revenue.

Her role as a COO encompasses building scalable franchises, improving operations through data, community-driven endeavors, and working hands-on behind strategic frameworks that matter for the home care franchise relationships.

She oversees 300+ franchise locations nationwide, ensuring each one of them has the tools needed to support exceptional care in home care. Her belief is rooted in simple facts: one of them is about never losing sight of the people and families the home care system runs on.

Let us now delve into what she has to say about the relevance of growing through real relationships and why small initiatives are imperative to building a growing agency.

1. What has been the key to scaling and supporting 300+ franchise locations while maintaining care quality?

People often assume scale and quality are in tension. But I’ve never seen it that way. As it eventually comes down to never letting any of our people feel like a number even as we grow. We invest heavily in performance coaches who build real relationships with franchise owners. Because support that always comes from someone who knows you works is so much better than oversight from afar. We were intentional about who we brought in for those coaching roles too. Many of our coaches are former home care agency owners themselves, so they’ve lived what our franchisees are living. They know the late nights, the staffing scrambles, the moments of doubt & that firsthand understanding is what lets them coach from a place of real relating, not just advising. And we hold onto one simple belief. A family should feel the same love and attention no matter which location they call. That’s the thread that has to run through everything.

2. What operational habits separate high-performing home care agencies from the rest?

The agencies I admire most never treat operations and heart as separate things. Not saying they don’t watch their numbers, caregiver retention, care plan compliance & response times closely. But the leaders behind those numbers are the ones who still send the card, make the call & remember the small stuff that has nothing to do with a spreadsheet. They also never lose sight of their why. Because every decision they made, every system they built & every metric they tracked – still traces back to the reason they got into this work in the first place. I think that’s the real secret. The habit isn’t the tracking. It’s caring enough to notice what the tracking can’t measure, and staying anchored to the “why” underneath it all.

3. What role does data play in improving operational efficiency and driving better outcomes in home care?

I love data. However, I always tell my team it can only show you where to look. And not how to feel about what you find. As the franchisor we lean on data to see the bigger picture across our network. This means which locations are thriving, where a franchisee might need extra coaching support, where care plan compliance or client satisfaction trends are shifting. That visibility lets us show up for our franchisees before small issues become big ones. But what I appreciate most about data is what it gives back to us. When you trust your numbers, it frees you up to be fully present for the human side of supporting our owners and their teams, which is where the real work happens.

4. How do you see AI transforming home care operations, and where should agencies start to see the greatest impact?

What excites me most about AI is the time it can give back to the people doing this work. If it can lighten the load on scheduling, documentation & matching caregivers to the families who need them – that’s more time and energy for what actually matters: the relationship. My advice to agencies is simple. Let AI carry the burden so your people can carry the care. Start there, and protect the human parts fiercely.

5. What trends or challenges should home care leaders prepare for in 2026?

I think about our workforce constantly. The need for care keeps growing & I believe the agencies who thrive will be the ones who make caregiving feel like a calling worth staying in. And not just a stop along the way. I’m also watching how much families want care that feels personal to them. And not something off a shelf. Leaders who build room for that kind of warmth even as they scale will lead the way forward.

6. What is your one piece of advice for agency owners looking to build a resilient and scalable home care business?

Don’t ever let growth convince you the small things don’t matter anymore. I know it’s tempting to think that as you get bigger those personal touches become optional. In my experience, it’s the opposite. The bigger you grow, the more those small human moments are what hold everything together. Build the systems you need to scale, but never build past the parts of your business that make you, you.

In Conclusion

This success story helps us uncover the system behind growing franchisee networks. The secret lies in balancing scalable growth with human moments, personal touches, dividing the burden with AI, making data-backed decisions, staying anchored to all the WHY’s, and investing in performance coaches.

Nevertheless, the main lesson will be to enable expansion via sustained human connection, never at the expense of the details that enabled years of trust.
