Home care agencies in Michigan are facing a major shift: the state’s Medicaid program now requires Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for personal care and home health services.
EVV Michigan is more than a regulatory process – it’s a digital tool that verifies date, time, location, service type, and caregiver identity for each visit. In practice, it means caregivers “clock in” and “clock out” via a smartphone app or IVR phone system, capturing key details of every visit. EVV matters because it protects agencies and clients.
In Michigan, EVV requirements roll out in phases. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services now requires EVV for many programs, including Behavioral Health, MI Choice Waiver, MI Health Link (personal care), & Medicaid Managed Care Home Health Care Services, effective September 3, 2024.
This whitepaper is your essential guide to mastering Michigan’s EVV hard cutover — ensuring compliance, avoiding claim denials, and keeping your home care operations running smoothly.
