Michelle Crosby Sheds Light on Cultivating a Supportive and Stable Home Care Team

In an industry where compassion meets complexity, the strength of a home care agency isn’t measured only by the number of clients served; it’s defined by the people who deliver that care day in and day out. Cultivating a supportive and stable care team is one of the most critical, yet overlooked, ingredients for long-term success.

Across the home care landscape, agencies grapple with high turnover, staffing shortages, and workforce burnout – challenges that don’t just impact operations, but deeply affect the consistency and quality of care that clients receive.

At its core, a stable care team is more than a staffing solution; it’s a culture built on trust, respect, and mutual purpose. When caregivers feel appreciated, supported, and empowered, they’re more engaged, more reliable, and better equipped to form meaningful connections with clients. This approach doesn’t just reduce turnover; it transforms care delivery into something steadier, more human, and far more impactful.

For agencies committed to excellence, nurturing team stability isn’t optional, it’s essential. And the results ripple outward: stronger teams deliver better care, households stay happier, and communities are healthier.

To shed some light on the same, we interviewed a home care industry expert to bring her perspective on cultivating a supportive and stable home care team.

Insights from Michelle Crosby

Who Did We Interview?

Michelle Crosby is a dedicated healthcare professional with deep roots in patient-focused service. With experience as a Medical Assistant in hospital and healthcare settings, she brings practical insight and compassionate leadership to every aspect of her work.

Michelle is skilled in customer service and time management, and blends strong clinical understanding with strategic leadership to build supportive, high-quality care teams.

Let us now delve into what she has to say about cultivating a supportive and stable home care team:

Question 1. What inspired you to lead Home Together Homecare?

I was working as a General Manager for a home care company that eventually had to close. I truly loved helping our clients and hated seeing them left without support.

That experience made me realize how passionate I was about making a difference in people’s lives, so I decided to start my own company where I could continue serving clients with heart and build something that lasts.

Question 2. What early challenge taught you the most about running a home care agency?

One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was staffing. It wasn’t just my company. Many agencies were struggling with it. Constant turnover and difficulty finding reliable caregivers taught me how important recruitment, retention, and team culture are to running a successful home care agency.

Question 3. What leadership principle guides your team culture?

I believe in being a hands-on leader. I don’t just run the business from behind a desk. I work alongside our clients and our team every day.

My dedication shows clients that I truly care, and that commitment inspires our team to serve with the same level of care and effort.

Question 4. How has AI improved your care delivery or operations?

I haven’t started using AI in my business yet, so it hasn’t impacted our care delivery or operations so far.

Question 5. What are your top priorities for Home Together Homecare’s future?

My top priority is simply to keep providing excellent care, not just for our clients, but for our staff too. I want our clients to always feel supported and valued, and I want our team to feel respected, appreciated, and empowered to do great work.

In conclusion

Michelle Crosby’s insights underscore a simple yet powerful truth: strong, supportive teams are the foundation of exceptional home care. Her journey – from frontline healthcare to founding Home Together Homecare – shows that overcoming challenges like turnover and staffing shortages isn’t just an operational necessity, but a catalyst for building a more human-centered, resilient agency.

By prioritizing culture, leadership, and genuine care for both clients and caregivers, Michelle demonstrates what’s possible when purpose drives practice. For home care leaders navigating complexity, her experience offers a clear message: invest in your people, and the quality of care will follow.
